"The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David!’ ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ‘Hosanna in the highest heaven!’”

This happens as Jesus enters Jerusalem on what we now call Palm Sunday. The crowds recognise Him as the promised Son of David and welcome Him like a king, even if they don’t fully understand the kind of kingdom He brings. Their shouts of “Hosanna” - “save us” - echo a deep longing for rescue. It’s a moment of celebration that points to the much bigger salvation story unfolding.
